Principia Spiritus
1982 | Printed paper, wood, glass, found objects; 5 x 9 x 2.75 ins. An edition of 2.
INSPIRED BY Isaac Newton’s "Principia Mathematica," this device establishes principles for the spiritual realm. Using the chance position of found objects, the provided propositions, when applied according to the piece’s laws and corollaries, can predict with accuracy the movement and nature of the emotions. The Latin phrases that accompany the laws and other texts are translations of the laws and corollaries that I wrote (Newton’s original was in written in Latin).
