THE RED PLANET (a tentative title) is a multimedia artwork that incorporates sculpted pieces with text to tell a futurist story about the development of non-human consciousness and its impact on humankind. Taking inspiration from the rapid development of artificial intelligence and the expected emergence within the decade of fully generative artificial general intelligence, The Red Planet is planned as narrative in a unique form that speculates about a possible outcome resulting from these extraordinary – and frightening – cognitive innovations. The shapes above can be assembled to form a Golden Cube, key element in the drama that unfolds in The Red Planet. The work is expected to be complete by 2026.
